Hapeville’s Arts Alley is transitioning from Oktoberfest to Día de los Muertos this weekend!
Rainy weather forced the cancellation of the last LocalMotion Oktoberfest, but you can still grab some German beer this week courtesy of Beer Girl Growlers & Bottleshop along with a full slate of live music and local artists from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. Chef Gemal Eustache is back, offering Mexican sliders and a street corn platter for $12. You can pre-order here.
The event features a number of local giveaways. LocalMotion will provide Halloween candy from Treat Love while supplies last and you still have a chance to win a free hot chocolate from Drip Coffee Shop by signing up here. You can get Beer Girl’s special Día de los Muertos sticker with email orders today and tomorrow as well.
The festivities stretch to Jess Lucas Park down South Central Avenue, where you can catch 22 films from Latinx filmmakers starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The short, independent films on feature will include selections from Colombia, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and Chile.
Spooky Treats
Looking for a sweet treat this Halloween? Look no further than East Point’s Kupcakerie, which is serving up some fun seasonal cupcakes. Make it even sweeter by wearing your costume to save 20% off your order on Saturday.
Seasonal Scents
Get your holiday shopping down early at Drip Coffee Shop! In addition to all your favorite coffees, deli sandwiches and baked goods, Drip now has Ranger Station candles and scents at its Hapeville location. This candlemaker started in 2015 by hand pouring candles into cocktail glasses. Learn more on their website.
Dinner Tonight
Friday night means a new special from Good Azz Food! Chef Keisa Carroll has a southern classic in Shrimp and Grits available outside Beer Girl on Central Avenue from 3 to 7 p.m. tonight.
Deep Dive with Sanskrit Moon
Hapeville yoga studio Sanskrit Moon has another great blog, this time exploring some Sanskrit terms you may not be familiar with. From asana to namaste, there’s plenty to learn from instructor Kim Hobbs here.
